Applicants should meet either of the following or equivalent

1. Master of Science in:

 Holders of a Bachelor of Science degree with at least an Upper Second Class Honors in Biological Sciences or an equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by senate, OR Holders of a Bachelor of Science degree with Lower Second Class Honors must have at least two years of proven work experience evidenced by publications or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Senate, OR Holders of a pass degree in the disciplines specified in OR above plus a post-graduate diploma in any other relevant field and at least five years’ relevant work experience
2. Bachelor of Science in Public Health Holders of a Bachelor of Science degree with at least an Upper Second Class Honors in Biological Sciences or an equivalent qualification from an institution  recognized by senate, OR Holders of a Bachelor of Science degree with Lower Second Class Honors must have at least two years of proven work experience evidenced by publications or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Senate, OR Holders of a pass degree in the disciplines specified in OR above plus a post-graduate diploma in any other relevant field and at least five years’ relevant work experience
SCHOOL OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES
3. Master of Science in: §   Biochemistry §   Biotechnology §   Biodiversity Conservation &Management §   Physics Holders of a Bachelor of Science degree with at least an Upper Second Class Honors in Biological Sciences or an equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by senate, OR Holders of a Bachelor of Science degree with Lower Second Class Honors must have at least two years of proven work experience evidenced by publications or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Senate, OR Holders of a pass degree in the disciplines specified in OR above plus a post-graduate diploma in any other relevant field and at least five years’ relevant work experience
4. Bachelor of Science in: §   Actuarial Science §   Statistics §   Mathematics KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent, (B.Sc. Statistics, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Actuarial Science require B-, C+ and B in Mathematics respectively).
5. Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Chemistry and Physics/Physical Sciences, Biology/Biological Sciences and Mathematics/Geography.
6. Bachelor of Science (Physics) KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Physics/Physical Sciences and Mathematics.
7. Bachelor of Science (Biology) KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Biology/Biological Sciences.
8. Bachelor of Science (Electronics) KCSE mean grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent with at least C+ or above in Physics/Physical Sciences and Mathematics.
9. Diploma in Electronics KCSE Mean Grade C (plain) or its equivalent with C (Plain) inPhysics /Physical Sciences and C- (Minus) in Mathematics.
10. Bridging Course in: §   Physics §   Mathematics §   Chemistry KCSE Mean grade C+ (Plus) or an equivalent qualification with at least C- (Minus) in Physics/ Chemistry/Mathematics.
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS  AND ECONOMICS
11. Master of Business Administration (MBA) Holders of at least an upper second class honors degree or its equivalent in a relevant field OR a lower second class with at least two years working experience, OR a pass degree with at least five years working experience, and/or having relevant professional qualifications.
12. §   Bachelor of Commerce §   Bachelor of Procurement &Supply Chain Management §   Project Planning & Management Holders of KCSE Mean Grade C+ or its equivalent and a minimum of C (plain) in Mathematics and English/Kiswahili.
13. §   Bachelor of Economics §   Bachelor of Economics and Statistics §   Business & Information Technology (BBIT) KCSE Mean Grade C+ (plus) or its equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Mathematics.
14 Diploma in: §   Business Management §   Human Res. Mgt. §   Purchasing and Supplies Management §   Sales and Marketing KCSE mean grade C (plain) and a minimum grade C-(Minus) in Mathematics / Commerce /Accounting/Business Studies and English/Kiswahili.
SCHOOL        OF AGRICULTURE AND   VETERINARY SCIENCES
15. Doctor of Philosophy in: §   Dryland Resource Management Holders of a B.Sc. with at least upper Second Class Honors oritsequivalent in Agricultural economics/Agricultural/ Biological / Environmental Sciences, Forestry or other relevant disciplines OR a Lower Second Class Honors in the above with Postgraduate Diploma or two years working experience OR a Pass in the above with  Postgraduate Diploma and five years working experience.
16. Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Economics

Master of Science in: §   Agricultural Resource Management, §   Livestock Production Systems §   Agricultural Economics §   Rangeland Resources Management Holders of Bachelor of Veterinary sciences or B.Sc. with at least Upper Second Class Honors oritsequivalent in Agriculture, Range Management, Wildlife, Zoology or Agricultural Economics OR a Lower Second Class Honors in the above with two years relevant workingexperience OR a Pass in the above with a Postgraduate Diploma orfive years working experience.
18. Master of Science in Agronomy Holders of a B.Sc. with at least upper second class honors or its equivalent in Agriculture, Botany and Zoology, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Education with Botany optionor other relevant disciplines OR a Lower Second Class Honors in the above with Postgraduate diplomaand two years working experience OR a Pass in the above with Postgraduate Diploma or five years working experience.
19. Master of Science in Comparative Mammalian Physiology Holders of Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences /Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery/Bachelor of Phar-macy with at least a Credit in Physiology ORa B.Sc. in Zoology with at least a Credit in Vertebrate Physiology.
20. Master of Science in Reproductive Biology Holders of B.Sc. with at least upper second class honors inBiochemistry, Zoology, Physiology, Biology or Anatomy OR Bachelor Veterinary Scienceswith at least a Credit pass in one of the relevant subjects OR a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery/Bachelor of Phar-macy with at least a Credit pass in one of the relevant subjects.
21. Bachelor of Science: §   Agriculture §   Dry land Agriculture §   Range Management §   Horticulture §   Dry land Animal Science §   Food Nutrition and Dietetics KCSE mean grade C+ (plus) or its equivalent with C(plain) in Biology/Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry / Physical Sciences and Mathematics/Geography/Agriculture.
22. Diploma in: §   Crop Protection §   Rangeland Management §   Apiculture(The Art, Science and Technology of Beekeeping) §   Animal Health and Production §   Animal Science KCSE mean grade C (Plain) or its equivalent with a C-(minus) in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics/Physics/physical sciences.
SCHOOL OFINFORMATION AND                                                                        COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
22. Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Mathematics andPhysics/Physical Sciences.
23. Bachelor of Information Technology KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus)or its equivalent with at least C (Plain) in Mathematics, English and Physics /Physical Sciences.
24. Diploma in Information Technology KCSE mean grade C (plain) or its equivalent with at least C-(Minus) in Mathematics & English.
25. Certificate in Computer Packages & Applications KCSE certificate or result slip.
SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
26. Masters of Arts in: ·          Sociology ·          Gender & Development Studies ·           Kiswahili Sociology (a) A holder of at least an upper second class honors degree (b) A holder of lower second class with at least two years of work experience (c) In addition to requirements in (a) and (b), the candidate must have attained a minimum of C+ (plus) at O level or equivalent
27. Bachelor of Arts: §   Social Work §   Gender &Development. Studies §   Bachelor of Arts (General) KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent.
28. Diploma in Social Work & Social Development KCSE Mean Grade C (Plain) or its equivalent.
SCHOOL OF WATER RESOURCES, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
29. Master of Science in Integrated Water Resources Holders of a B.Sc. of at least Upper Second class honors in Environmental/ Natural/ Biological/
and Watershed Management Agricultural Sciences and Water Resources Management OR a Lower Second Class Honors in the above fields and a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field OR a Pass in the above fields with a Postgraduate diploma in arelevant field and a minimum of three years’ work experience.
30. Bachelor of Science in: §   Hydrology and Water Resources Management §   Fisheries Management and Aquaculture Technology KCSEMean     Grade         C+(Plus)or           its       equivalentwithatleastC               (Plain)                           inBiology,Chemistry andinMathematics/Physics/Physical Sciences/Geography.
31. Diploma in Water Resources Management KCSE Mean Grade C (Plain) or its equivalent with at least C-(Minus) in Biology, Geography and Chemistry/ Physics/Mathematics.
INSTITUTE OF MNING AND MINERAL PROCESSING
32. Master of Science in Agro- meteorology
33. Bachelor of Science in: §   Geology §   Meteorology KCSE mean grade in C+ (plus) or its equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Chemistry, Physics/ Physical Sciences, Geography and Mathematics.
SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
34 Doctor of Philosophy in: §   Environmental Management Holders of a masters’ degree from SEKU or its equivalent from the University recognized by SEKU senate in Environmental Management, Environmental Studies/Sciences, Natural Resources Management, and in any relevant related areas OR Holders of masters’ degree in relevant engineering recommended by the school board and approved by SEKU Senate
35. Doctor of Philosophy in: ·          Climate Change & Agroforestry holder of Master’s degree of South Eastern Kenya University or its equivalent from a University recognized by SEKU Senate in  forestry/agroforestry, climate change, land resources, environmental studies/sciences, natural resources management, relevant agricultural sciences, environmental engineering, law, environmental education and, geography. ORMaster’s degree in relevant social sciences and engineering recommended by the School Board and approved by SEKU Senate.
36. Master of Science in : §   Environmental Management Holders of B.Sc. with at least an upper second class honors in Basic and Applied Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Public Health ,Resource Economics, Environmental Engineering, Law, Environmental Education, Geography and relevant Social Sciences OR a Lower Second Class honors on any of the areas specified above with at least two years relevant work experience or a postgraduate diploma in any of the areas listed above OR a Pass degree in the disciplines specified above plus a Postgraduate Diploma in any field related to Environment and Natural Resources Management and at least five years’ work experience.
37. Master of Science in : ·          Climate Change & Agroforestry 1.3.1 Holders of a Bachelor of Science degree with at least an Upper Second Class Honours in basic and applied sciences, forestry/agroforestry, climate change, land resources, environmental studies/sciences, natural resources management, agricultural sciences, public health, resource economics, environmental engineering, law, environmental education, geography and relevant social sciences among other relevant disciplines or an equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Senate. 1.3.2 Holders of a Bachelor of Science degree with Lower Second Class Honours in any of the areas specified in 1.3.1 above with at least two years relevant work experience or a postgraduate diploma in any of the areas listed in 1.3.1 above or equivalent qualification from an institution
recognized by Senate. 1.3.3 Holders of a pass degree in the disciplines specified in 1.3.1 above plus a post-graduate diploma in any field related to forestry, land resources, environment and natural resources management and at least five years’ work experience.
38. Bachelor of Science in: §   Environmental Conservation & Natural Resources Mgt. §   Environmental Management §   Forestry KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent with at least C+ (Plus) in Biology/Biological sciences, and a minimum of C (Plain) in Chemistry and Physics/Physical Sciences and Mathematics.
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
39. Master of Education Regular and Institution (School) Based with Options of: Curriculum Studies Educational Administration Educational Planning Economics of Education Educational Psychology Holders of a B.Ed. degree with two subjects studied at secondary level or Primary and Diploma Teacher Training Colleges OR any other Bachelor’s degree with at least an Upper Second class honors and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) ORB.Ed. Lower Second class honors and two years of work experience. Applicants who wish to specialize in Economics of Education or Educational Planning must have studied Economics or Business Studies as a subject in their Bachelor’s degree.
38. Bachelor of Education (Arts) (English and Literature, Kiswahili, History, Christian Religious Education, Geography, Business Studies) Bachelor of Education (Science) (Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry) Regular and Institution (School) Based KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) orits equivalent OR a Trained Primary School Teacher of P1 grade with minimum three years working experience and a minimum of KCSE Mean Grade C (Plain). Applicants for B.Ed (Science) should in addition have attained C+ (Plus) in at least two Science subjects.
40. Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) KCSE mean grade C (Plain) orits equivalent OR a PI Certificate from a recognized institution with two years teaching experience and a KCSE mean grade of C- (minus).

South Eastern Kenya University Application Procedures

Applications for the programmes shall be made through Official Application Forms, which are available at a non-refundable fee of Kshs.2,000.00 for the Undergraduate, Kshs.1,000.00 for Diploma programmes and Kshs.500.00 for Certificate programmes.
