LouGotCash Freestyle: Watch Rapper Switch Up the Flow

Check Out What’s going on.

There hasn’t been an uber-successful rapper to come out of Southside Jamaica, Queens in quite some time. Artists like 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj have long established themselves and moved on to bigger and better ventures outside of the hip-hop landscape. Then you have LouGotCash, who has made it a goal of his to put the borough back on the music map with his fresh take on that classic street sound.

Lou was on a mission when he came by XXL‘s Manhattan office while promoting Louniversal, his latest mixtape via Republic Records. During his freestyle for XXL‘s What I Do series, the “Too Turnt” rapper switched up his flow a couple times in an attempt to prove why he shouldn’t be compared to any of his fellow rappers with colored ’locks.

“Fuck all them boys, we ain’t cool with them/You see my car and it’s newer than him/’Posed to be mad, I be losin’ them/Fuck all my opps I was cool with them,” he begins. “Fuck everybody that move with them/I got some shit that I went through, nobody was there so I’ll never be cool again/Said I be soundin’ like Uzi an’ ’em, I don’t be soundin’ like Uzi an’ ’em/I just be goin’ through shit and change up my flow, my nigga, I’m foolin’ them.”

LouGotCash got his big break two years ago when DJ Self signed him to Gwinin Entertainment. The success of his singles “Make 10” and “Pipe Down” made him a local celebrity in a matter of months and landed him features from other rising stars. In May, Lou and Lil Baby linked up for Kaio Kane’s “100 Racks” track and artists like Jay Critch and Trippie Redd can be found volleying bars with him on Louniversal.

“[Trippie Redd] pulled up and I played a couple songs, and we heard that beat and we just jumped on it,” LouGotCash tells XXL about “Too Turnt,” his song with the 2018 XXL  Freshman.

These days, Lou is performing at shows in and around the tri-state as he preps new music. Last month, the rhymer appeared at 2018 Powerhouse to perform alongside 6ix9ine, Cardi B and Lil Uzi Vert.
